Also in the image is noted Irish equestrian Molly Morgan Byrne, daughter of Irish barrister Henry Morgan Byrne, who recovered from a broken neck at Fairyhouse to divorce his first wife and marry Molly’s mother.
Mr Gore-Grimes, whose family firm continues in business to this day, seems to have been an exception to the rule propounded by the Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News of the time, that
“Lawyers do not ride very well, as a rule, in the hunting field, because they do not maintain the necessary practice, being, as is notorious, otherwise employed. I have seen few of them go really well over a country that wanted any jumping when the pace was good, when scent held, and hounds ran on at their best speed without being checked in every field….”
